Personal Statement for Residency

The personal statement for residency, medical school or university application is CRITICAL.

The personal statement must include key elements based on YOU.  Your strengths are highlighted and perceived weaknesses must be turned into strengths.  It must be a highly strategic document.  The biggest issue I’ve found is that writers cannot properly or fully express their amazing experiences, turn perceived negatives into positives, write strategically and powerfully (but, staying humble).

I am the ‘King of Scholarships’ having won over 12 scholarships.  I earned the highest scholarship at the University of Southern California.  I won national, state, university, college, and local scholarships.  My personal statement made clear that I persevered, gave back to the community, was worthy of support, and that I was serious about (fill-in the blank: academia or attending the specific university or, in your case, residency at a specific hospital). The personal statement will make a candidate rise to the top!

I helped others win scholarships (about 90% success rate), and worked in higher education administration for many years (learning the ‘inside’ workings).  A personal statement ‘can make you or break you’.  It’s an ESSENTIAL document.

A personal statement must be concise, poignant, descriptive but not wordy.  A ?perfect personal statement is one where each noun, adjective, etc. is purposeful.  Remember, persons reading your personal statement have read many.  Some are horrible.  Many are good.  Be sure you STAND OUT!p

You must be able to speak conversational English; my family, best friend, and others are all immigrants.  Accents are not an issue but a general command of English is necessary.

There is NO rapid turnaround.  This a process cannot take less than 5-to-7 days unless you are a brilliant interviewee and your first draft is solid.  You should plan on about 10-14 days from start to finish.  Great writing is not rushed; it is optimal to set a document down for a day or three, and resume with a fresh perspective.

I use zoom, facetime, google duo, whatsapp, and gotomeeting, or we can simply speak.

I am available most hours of any day.  New York City timezone.

Interviewing you and asking you questions is essential to delving into…you.  I’ve never completed a personal statement without continuous interviewing, and questioning (questioning timelines, questioning motivation, questioning feelings & thoughts & ambition, etc).

The fee is $1,000.00 for a personal statement where each noun, adjective, etc. is purposeful.  It’s about 7 revisions total, and it takes no less than two weeks to write a rock-solid personal statement that my even bring tears to your eyes (yup, I’ve been able to do that).  This is a personal statement you will frame.
